Last week we brought you the new mama must-haves and this week it’s all about the babies. As a semi-minimalist (clutter gives me anxiety), registering for baby was a bit overwhelming. I actually have to fit all this stuff in my house?! Luckily, I have lots of new mamas close by who have offered some great advice on essentials that worked well for them.
Choosing to keep baby close for the first couple of weeks, during adult sleeping hours, seems to make the most sense. Mostly for my sanity since I hear I will be pretty much be a walking zombie (a really happy, tired zombie) for the first month or two. The minimalist pick is this Fisher-Price Vibrating Rock n’ Play Sleeper. Affordably priced and with different or color options (I love the Snugabuny), this sleeper folds up nicely and also vibrates (possibly replacing another space sucker…the swing).
2. Car Seats/Strollers
I have heard this story several times…bought a stroller that was ok. Hated stroller 2 months later. Ended up buying more expensive stroller that they originally wanted but felt guilty registering for because of its price tag. Result, left with two strollers. Instead, get something that is durable, will fit your lifestyle and will last through baby no. 1 (and possible 2 and 3). My husband and I like to go for jogs and daily walks in our neighborhood. We are going for the BOB Revolution SE Single Stroller. Even though BOB doesn’t make a car seat, this Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat will fit perfectly with the purchase of an adapter.
3. Diapers/Diaper Pail
Cloth or disposable? My husband and I have gone back and forth on this one. There are some options out there that make cloth more appealing like these gDiapers but in the end, I think the bundles (diapers + wipes sent monthly) through The Honest Company will get my vote. Eco-friendly for the environment and safe for baby (bonus: adorable diaper designs). Win. Win. For a diaper pail, I like the simplicity of this Ubbi Diaper Pail. Simple, stylish and none of the smell.
4. Bath Tubs
Since babies are like slippery little fish when wet, I think for my sanity and the safety of the baby, I will be opting for a tub to make bath-time more enjoyable. This Boon Naked Collapsable Tub reclines, expands, collapses and dries easily.
I will make this easy for you… Aden + Anais. For baby: swaddle wraps, blankets, towels, wash cloths, sleeping bags, bib & burp cloths. For the nursery: crib sheets and changing pad covers.

Spring has officially sprung! Here in the midwest, I absolutely love the changing seasons but it always seems like winter looms a little too long. In the past few weeks, we have finally had some warmer days along with the first signs of green grass (and hopefully tulips) peeking through.
We have a lot going on at BFYB, especially in the coming months. A new site, new members page, new products…very exciting stuff! In the meantime, we wanted to share our favorite looks for some major milestones coming up for you mamas.
Whether you are the guest-of-honor or just a guest, put away your boots and black and bring out some color! For a short option (time to break out the self tanner on those white legs)…we love this Elastic Cotton Shift Dress by Maternal America. This very popular seersucker pattern is soft, comfy and adorable. For a dressier option, see this same version is a silky material.
I am crossing my fingers for a get-a-way before baby comes and I will definitely be packing this bright and colorful Sleeveless Maxi Dress by Seraphine.
Comfort, versatile, slimming…all words we love to hear regarding our wardrobe after baby arrives. Leggings, cardigans, long basic tanks (easy for nursing). One of our favorites is this nursing friendly but still trendy Grey Popper Tee by Seraphine.
Get to know some of our favorite designers and their styles. Many maternity designers focus on the wearability of items beyond pregnancy making these items and MUST for your wardrobe.
NOM - comfortable and wearable tops, bottoms and dresses. With a hip L.A. vibe, these pieces can be worn casually but also converted as great basics for the office that can easily be dressed up with a blazer and heels. We love this Sophie Dress by NOM (available in Black or Grey).
Seraphine - a London brand that is chic and loved by many celebrities (Kate Middleton, Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson). With beautiful formal wear to basic leggings, this brand has many options for every occasion. We love these Under the Belly Bamboo Leggings (available in Charcoal & Black). For something a little dressier, we absolutely are green with envy for this Key Hole Dress.
Imanimo - started by two young, stylish mamas who created collections that are high quality, fashionable with pieces that can be worn well after pregnancy. We love this Naomie Dress by Imanimo (perfect shower dress).
Paige Denim - casual denim that is sophisticated and trendy. As one of the only female founders in the denim industry, Paige Denim became an instant obsession from consumers to celebrities.

Pregnant. Professional. Polished. Who says you can’t rock a pencil skirt with a bump? If you like a more tailored look then keep rockin it girl! Just a few tips to follow:
Comfort. Make sure the skirt has enough stretch so it’s not only comfortable but looks good. Most maternity sizes will include a stretchy waist (zippers are not as forgiving).
Length. The tighter the fit, the longer the length. Shoot for right above the knee.
Spice it up. Most maternity pencil skirts will probably come in black so spice it up with a colorful blouse (we love powder pink), fun jewelry and animal print heels.
